Casino Dene started as a vision of the Denesuline (Chipewyan) Tribe of Cold Lake First Nations. Their goal was to provide an economic development plan to foster opportunity and advancement for the First Nation people, which turned into a reality through an agreement with the Alberta Gaming and Liqour Commission. Casino Dene is located on reserve lands of Cold Lake First Nations just 7 km south of the City of Cold Lake.
It is located 300km Northeast of Edmonton, and there are several neighbouring communities within a 30-45 minute drive. The Casino offers customers 10 table games with up to $100 maximum betting limits and 250 slot machines. Since the start of this Project, the Cold Lake First Nations have donated millions of dollars to various charities and non-profit organizations.
The mandate of Casino Dene is to enhance the quality of life for residents of the Lakeland Region through charitable community support in the areas of health and well-being; education, training and leadership; environmental sustainability; community improvement and social services; tourism development and enhancement; and arts, culture and heritage.
